We are excited to give you a glance of this year’s Moving in November programme.
The last time you heard from us, we posed the question: Whose Battle Are We Fighting? Much has happened since. We received a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s Uusimaa Regional Fund, dedicated to presenting artists living and working in Helsinki—a much needed and beautiful surprise that allowed us to invite more artists than originally foreseen, and to support substantially almost all the works already included in the programme. Yet the question remains—not only for this year, but for the years ahead.
This year’s edition is dedicated to and celebrating artists living and working in Helsinki through an extensive programme. During November 5–15, we present creations by:
Alen Nsambu
Antonia Atarah
Chen Nadler
Giorgia Lolli
Iiris Laakso
Jenni-Elina von Bagh
Johanna Karlberg
Kadence Neill
Matilda Aaltonen
Mikko Niemistö
Milla Koistinen
Sara Grotenfelt
Veli Lehtovaara
These works will be interwoven with performances by artists from abroad, blurring and questioning the boundaries between the local and the international. What do these categories mean today? Is there such a thing as the purely local, or the truly international? How do artists become rooted in a place, and how do they move beyond it? Where does the local end and the international begin?
Additionally, we are preparing a surprise for Friday the 13th, involving even more artists who work in Helsinki, and who have been part of the ongoing conversations around Moving in November over the years.
Also, Anna Kozonina with the Audience Club will be back, already for the third time.
The full programme is revealed on September 16th.
We wish you a beautiful summer and are already looking forward to welcoming you in November.
Yours,
Moving in November team
